Seeing a LiftMaster error code?
- 4-2 — Excessive opening force: the door is too heavy to lift safely — usually out of balance or a weak spring
- 4-1 — Excessive closing force: the door is binding or obstructed on the way down
- 4-4 — Sensor problem: the door reverses or won’t close — misaligned or faulty safety eyes
- 1-5 — Motor runs, door doesn’t move: often a stripped gear or a disconnected drive

How much does garage door opener installation cost in Brampton?
Professional installation labour is $200 when you supply the opener. If we supply the opener too, you get a written quote before we start — the price we quote is the price you pay. Every installation includes programming, safety testing, and a 5-year labour warranty.
Can you install an opener I bought myself?
Yes — that’s our $200 installation service. Buy your LiftMaster, Craftsman, Chamberlain or other opener anywhere and we’ll mount it, program the remotes and keypad, connect the app, and make sure your door is balanced so the opener lasts.
Belt drive or wall-mount — which is better?
Both are quiet. Choose a belt drive (like the LiftMaster 6690L) for a standard ceiling install with a camera and the brightest light. Choose a wall-mount (LiftMaster 98022) if you want the ceiling free for storage or a lift, or the extra security of an automatic door lock.
My opener shows error code 4-2. What does it mean?
Code 4-2 means the opener detected excessive opening force — the door has become too heavy to lift safely, usually because it’s out of balance or a spring is failing. Don’t keep forcing it: that strain can damage the opener’s internals. We diagnose it the same day, and the $120 diagnostic is waived if you go ahead with the repair.
Do smart openers work during a power outage?
All three openers we feature include a battery backup, so your door keeps working when the power goes out. The myQ app also alerts you if the door is left open.
How long does an installation take?
A typical opener installation takes about 1.5–2.5 hours, including removing the old unit, programming, and testing. Repairs are often finished the same visit.
