Steel vs. Fiberglass — Which Is Right for Your Home?
Almost every front door we install is steel or fiberglass. Both are insulated for Ontario winters — the difference is look, feel and budget. This table is the honest comparison we walk through with you at the estimate visit.
| Steel Entry Doors | Fiberglass Entry Doors | |
|---|---|---|
| Look & finish | Smooth surface with modern or classic panel designs; crisp painted finishes | Realistic wood-grain texture (oak, mahogany) or smooth; can be stained like real wood |
| Insulation | Excellent — insulated foam core keeps the cold out | Excellent — thick insulated core, top-tier energy performance |
| Security | Very strong, rigid steel skin — a great security choice | Strong reinforced core and stiles; pairs well with multi-point locks |
| Dents & damage | Can dent on a hard impact; scratches should be touched up to prevent rust | Highly dent-resistant; will not rust, rot, warp or peel |
| Maintenance | Low — occasional cleaning and touch-ups | Lowest — built for Ontario freeze-thaw cycles |
| Price level | Most affordable way into a new entry door | Premium — the wood look without wood upkeep |
| Best for | A strong, clean-looking door on a tighter budget | Homeowners who want the wood look and the longest-lasting finish |
Single, Sidelites, Double Doors & Transoms
Your new door is built around your existing opening — or we help you reimagine it. These are real installations by our team.

Single Entry Door
The classic replacement. Modern flat-panel, craftsman or traditional raised-panel styles, with or without a glass insert.

Door + Sidelites
One or two sidelites flood your foyer with natural light. Frosted and textured glass keeps your privacy intact.

Double Doors
A grand entrance for wider openings — and practical, too: moving furniture in and out gets a lot easier.

Door + Transom
A window above the door — rectangular or arched — adds light and height to your entryway.

Front Door FAQ
How much does a new front door cost?
It depends on the configuration (single, sidelites, double, transom), the material, the glass and the hardware you choose. That’s why we start with a free in-home estimate: we measure your opening and give you the exact price in writing before you commit to anything.
Steel or fiberglass — which is better for Ontario winters?
Both are built for our climate with insulated foam cores. Steel is the most affordable and very strong. Fiberglass costs more but won’t dent, rust or warp, and its wood-grain finishes look like real wood. At your estimate we’ll show you both and recommend based on your home and budget.
How long does it take from order to installation?
Your door is made to order, so the timeline is confirmed in writing with your quote. The installation itself is usually completed in one day.
What’s included in the installation?
Your new door and frame system, hardware and lock, installation, interior and exterior trim finishing, sealing, and removal and disposal of your old door. Everything is itemized in your written quote.
Can I add sidelites or a transom to my entryway?
Often, yes — it depends on your opening and the structure around it. At the free measure visit we check what’s possible and show you the options for your home.
Are your doors energy efficient?
Yes — our steel and fiberglass doors have insulated cores and quality weatherstripping, and many models are ENERGY STAR® certified. We’ll show you the energy rating of the exact model you choose.
What warranty do I get?
Your door system carries the manufacturer’s warranty, and our installation workmanship is covered as well. You get the full details in writing with your quote — you can also read our warranty policy page anytime.
Can you match my front door to my garage door?
Yes — garage doors, front doors and windows are all our work. We can coordinate colours and styles across the front of your home, and handle everything with one team and one quote.
