Window Styles for Every Room

Every window we install is a low-maintenance vinyl frame, made to your exact opening. Mix styles room by room — opening windows where you want air, fixed glass where you want the view. These are the styles most of our customers choose from.

Casement

Hinged on the side and opened with a crank, casements press tight against the frame when closed — the best seal of any opening window, and wide-open ventilation when you want it. A favourite for kitchens and living areas.

Awning

Hinged at the top and tilting outward, awning windows shed rain while they’re open, so you can air out a room even in a drizzle. Common in bathrooms and basements, and often paired under a large picture window.

Double-Hung

The classic look: both sashes slide up and down, and tilt in for easy cleaning from inside. A natural fit for traditional homes and bedrooms, with ventilation from the top, the bottom, or both.

Sliding

One sash glides sideways past the other — no swing space needed inside or out. Simple, dependable and economical, and a practical choice for wide openings and rooms that open onto decks and walkways.

Picture / Fixed

A fixed window doesn’t open — which makes it the most energy-efficient and the clearest view of all. Use picture windows where the scenery is the point, and pair them with casements or awnings nearby for fresh air.

Bay & Bow

Three or more windows angled or curved outward from the wall. Bays and bows add light, a sense of space and a window seat’s worth of character to living rooms and kitchens — and real presence from the street.

Glass & Energy

Double-Pane vs. Triple-Pane — The Honest Comparison

Either way, you’re getting sealed, insulated glass units in a vinyl frame — a major step up from the windows in most older Ontario homes. The real question is how far you want to take warmth and quiet. Here’s how the two glass packages compare.

Double-Pane WindowsTriple-Pane Windows
Panes of glassTwo panes, one sealed insulating space between themThree panes, two sealed insulating spaces
Low-E coatingAvailable — a microscopically thin coating that reflects heat back where it came from: inside in winter, outside in summerAvailable — can be applied to more than one glass surface for the highest energy performance
Argon gas fillAvailable — fills the single space between the panes and slows heat transfer better than airAvailable — fills both spaces between the three panes
Warmth / heat lossGood — a big improvement over old single-pane or worn-out windows; the glass stays reasonably warm on cold nightsBest — the lowest heat loss of the two, and the warmest inside glass surface, which also means less condensation on the coldest nights
Noise reductionGood — noticeably quieter than old, leaky windowsBetter — the extra pane and second gas space damp more street and traffic noise
Best forMost homes and budgets — a strong all-round upgrade for any roomBedrooms, rooms facing busy roads, and any space you want as warm and quiet as possible

Reading the ratings: the U-factor tells you how quickly heat escapes through the window — the lower the number, the better it insulates. Canadian windows also carry an ER (Energy Rating) — the higher the ER, the better the window’s overall energy performance. Many of the windows we install have ENERGY STAR® rated options. At your estimate we’ll show you both numbers for the exact window you choose.

Is It Time?

Signs It’s Time to Replace Your Windows

Windows rarely fail all at once — they fade slowly, and your heating bill quietly picks up the difference. If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth a free estimate.

Draughts & cold rooms

You can feel air moving around closed windows, and the rooms near them never quite warm up in winter. Worn seals and tired frames are letting your heated air out.

Fog between the panes

Condensation or a cloudy film inside the glass means the sealed unit has failed. The insulating gas is gone, the view is spoiled, and no amount of cleaning will fix it.

Rising energy bills

If your heating costs keep climbing while your habits stay the same, your windows are a prime suspect — old glass and leaky frames can account for a real share of a home’s heat loss.

Sticking or rotted frames

Windows that stick, jam, or won’t stay open — and frames that are soft, cracked or rotting — are past their service life, and they’re a security weak point too.

Outside noise getting in

Traffic, neighbours and barking dogs coming through loud and clear is a sign the glass and seals are no longer doing their job. Modern sealed units are dramatically quieter.

Faded furniture & floors

Curtains, upholstery and hardwood fading near your windows means UV is pouring in unfiltered. Low-E glass blocks most of that UV while letting the light through.

Questions

Window Installation FAQ

How much do new windows cost?

It depends on how many windows you’re replacing, their sizes, the styles you choose, and the glass package — double-pane or triple-pane, with options like Low-E coating and argon fill. Specialty shapes such as bay and bow windows are priced differently from standard rectangles. That’s why we start with a free in-home estimate: we measure every opening and give you the exact price in writing, window by window, before you commit to anything.

How long does installation take?

It depends on how many windows we’re replacing and the condition of the openings. Most homes are finished over one to two days of work, and your home is never left open or unsecured overnight. We confirm the expected timeframe in writing with your quote, and your windows are custom-ordered first, so install day is a planned visit — not a guess.

Double-pane or triple-pane — which is better for Ontario winters?

Both are a major upgrade over old or failed windows. Triple-pane gives you the lowest heat loss, the warmest inside glass (which means less condensation on the coldest nights), and the best noise reduction — worth it for bedrooms, rooms over the garage, and homes on busy roads. Double-pane with Low-E coating and argon fill is the right value for many homes. At your estimate we’ll price both so you can compare honestly.

Can you replace just one window, or does it have to be the whole house?

Either one. We replace single failed windows — a fogged unit or a cracked frame — and full houses alike. Your written quote prices each window individually, so you can do everything now, start with the worst rooms, or phase the project over time. No pressure either way.

What warranty do I get?

Your new windows carry the manufacturer’s warranty, and our installation workmanship is covered by our workmanship warranty. You get the full details in writing with your quote — and you can read our warranty policy page anytime.
